How to protect a nest from squirrel stealing the eggs. nest sitting on porch light?

the bird nest is sitting on porch light 6 inches from soffit and 6 inches from door. Something gets in there and take the eggs one at a time. This is the 2nd set of 4 eggs. Can I put something close to nest to detour the steelers? We do not tuch the nest or the eggs. We know better. They are easy to see with mirror. How to protect a nest from squirrel stealing the eggs. nest sitting on porch light?
squirrels are well known for attacking nests. If you do a web search on how to deter them you may come up with something. I have heard about using pop bottles being slit and then put around a climbing pole to a nest. Some even put plastic flowers in so it looks nice too. This works because the squirrel cannot climb the bottle. Maybe you can find something similar to attach inbetween to stop them from getting past..... adding any type of grease would be dangerous for the birds!!!How to protect a nest from squirrel stealing the eggs. nest sitting on porch light?
If it is squirrels, the only thing to deter them is an Instant Kill Trap called Kania Trap 2000

Squirrels, especially Grey's are one of the biggest menaces to our North American Song Birds. If you want to protect our song birds, you need to reduce the Predator population such as the Grey Squirrel.
Grease up the area with vaseline.
i think it would be a snake and not a squirrel

    1. A very determined squirrel will try until he wears away the Vaseline. Try adding cayenne pepper to the Vaseline (the squirrel will try to lick the Vaseline off his paws, as well as wipe it on his tail, etc. I had a situation where he even brought friends back to help! And this was all for bird feed.
